trouble with power tilt and trim

i have a 1989 evinrude 140 my power tilt will go up but not down with the button on the motor, works fine with buttons on the throttle any help would be great

Well at least you know your trim/tilt works ok. Use a test light or volt meter and check out the switch on the motor.
