Trim sender vs stick

Last ride before pulling the boat out of the marina for the season, noticed my trim gauge died. After putting it on the trailer, saw that a stick had gotten caught and ripped one of the wires off my trim sender. Im guessing that the sender itself is still fine, as well as the connection within the boat. Is there any reason why I wont be able to buy a new sender and splice the already existing wires to it ? All of the posts I see about sender installs/replacments seem to always end up with a full wire pull through the transom.
Thanks

you can splice it or try and re-solder it.

Yes a full repair has the wires going through the transom which is best done when the bellows are being done and everything is completely apart. If you are old enough to remember boats before trim gauges you can also leave it alone ....
