trim and tilt

I have a 92 40hp Yamaha outboard, it did not come with power tilt and trim. I was wondering can I find another 40hp yamaha and take the trim and tilt off it and use it? I dont want to spend alot of money on it like buying the cmc. Any suggestions would be great thanks.

I'm not sure about that motor, but the tilt trim relays for my 1994 70 were inside the motor cowling. They are part of what makes the tilt trim work. If you can find another 40 it might be easier to install your power head on it (assuming that it's a broken motor) rather than tear apart the rest of the the thing and then try to piece it back together and find a way to jerry rig the electrical system for the TnT.
