Hi guys, another new guy here. I have been reading the fourms from time to time but now it's my time to ask. I am restoring a 1977 Century Raven 230, when i got it, it had a tree growing out of it and a huge hole in the bow. completely gutted the hull and started from scratch. Everything has been going well so far but now to my question. Originally it had a OMC stringer drive, I have since replaced the transom and filled the big OMC hole. My queston is how smooth does the surface have to be to mount the Mercruiser Alpha transom assembly. Using a straightedge the biggest gap is aobut 1/16 of an inch. Does anyone know if that is acceptable? Mercruiser Tech's are not really sure as there specs only cover new applicaton.

I'm going to move this to the I/O forum for possibly more responses. If I'm wrong, Don will probably move it back :p

You were absolutely right in moving it here.

Here is some information for an Alpha I Gen II, but it's exactly the same as the older Alphas and one drives.
