Hey Gang,
First I want to say this is my first post and I really appreciate all the info here on the forum. I've read all the sticky posts and they have been very helpful. Here's my first question.
Bought a boat project and need advice. Boat was stored for one year and the drain plug got blocked by debris. Back of boat was filled with water up to the top of the starter (mounted low on engine just above the bilge). I've changed the starter, trim motor, and installed new points. The motor is now running. When I replaced the starter, I found that water was still in the bell housing area between the engine and transom where the starter mounts. Water could have been there for months. No, there was not any water in the engine oil and no oil in the cooling system. Any ideas on what items need to be checked prior to putting this boat into service?
