transducer position

I am mounting the transducer for a new sonar. Intructions say to stay away from the prop, strakes and rows of rivets in order to avoid turbulance and get better readings under way.

It does not say anything about the about the outside of the hull. This is an 18 foot aluminum outboard. In order to keep it the recommended distance from the prop (15 inches) I would need to put it about 4 inches from the outside corner of the transom.

Thanks.

Re: transducer position

The transducer may come out of the water if its that close the the outside of the transom. I also have an aluminum hull with lots of strakes and the transducer is going further inboard toward the centerline.
