Transducer Mounting Problems

Anyone have practical advice for correctly mounting a transducer? the instructions that came with mine were clear as mud. ive got it mounted but lose signal over 1/4 throttle, so all is not right.

Any advice is appreciated

1) Mount on the right side as far away from the motor as possible
2) What brand na dmodel of locator are we talking about. Positioning varies by manufacturer.
3) It cannot be mounted in line with any protrusion on the bottom of the boat such as strakes.
4) Mount it too high and you will lose signal. Mount it too low and it will get ripped off when it strikes debris. Some units are simply better than others which is why I asked about make and model.
5) It must be mounted so it fires straight down.
6) It must be mounted so it does not swing up at speed.

it is a Humminbird 175 i believe. I paid around $100 for it simply because a basic depth sounder was about the same and thats all i really wanted. nothing fancy.

I have it mounted as you have described so it may just be the equipment, however, i may have it mounted a tad high. Which would explain signal loss after the boat planes out
