My old trailer has been in salt water and is rusting. The ballast water tends to keep dribbling out onto the bottom of the trailer support "V". I am afraid that one of these days it will break and my boat will be on the road. I plan on more salt water sails and am considering a custom aluminum trailer. I am considering 2 axels, electric brakes, mounted spare tire; the cost may be ~$3500. Does this sound like a reasonable price? What do you think about electric vs surge brakes? Has anyone else bought a new trailer for a MacGregor 26 ...the original sailboat...not the motor sailer?

Next question: I need to replace my 2 stroke Mercury Salipower 9.8HP outboard?any recommendations? I favor made in the USA if that is even an option anymore? I assume I should get a 4 stroke?

around here you find used Mac 26's in rough shape all the time very cheap. Buy one and take the boat to the dump and keep the trailer.
