Looking for some experienced feedback / advice regarding the placement of trailer bunk brackets.
I have a 20’ inboard DD Ski Boat. The trailer is not specific to this boat but is designed for inboard ski boats. It does have 4 bunks – each 12’ long, carpet covered & treated 2”x 6”. Total, there’s 12 bunk backets mounted on the 2x4 cross members. These backets are 12" tall with the swivels mounted to the bunks.
The bunks do need some adjusting. They’re not equally spaced and not equal distance from the center of trailer. Also, over the years the brackets have changed their orientation / angles.
My question is regarding the actual bunk brackets that are attached to the trailer’s cross members.
Should these brackets be mounted so that they are 90 degrees to the cross members? Or should they be mounted so that they are vertical?
The 3 main trailer cross members are V – I’m guessing approximately 10 degrees. The boat bottom is also a slight V – continues towards the bow for at least 10’ before becoming deeper.
