Hello,
Trying to find info on what tire size is recommended for 2011 Tahoe Q5i trailer. Currently on the trailer is 14 inch and the last owner put them on but wasn't sure if they should have been 14 or 15 inches. Any help would be awesome. Thank you for your time.

Either may be appropriate. What's important is the total weight of the rig which includes boat, trailer, and everything in or on it including fuel, and other gear. Then check the load capacity of the tires. If the load is more than the max load indicated on the tires you need tires with a higher load capacity. If the load is less than the maximum load rating of the tires you will be ok. In order to go from 15 to 14 or vice versa the prior owner would have needed to change wheels as well (can't put 14 inch tires on 15 inch wheels and vice versa).

Hello
Thank you for the advice. He said he couldn't remember what the trailer had on it. He bought 14-inch trailers with rims. To me the tires are not proper for the boat. The weight is much heavier than the tires load. I will look to change to 15 tires and rims. Looks like there will be plenty of room between the top of the tire to the fender.

Does your trailer still have it's sticker on the left side near the tongue? If so, it will specify the original equipment size.

look with your eyes on the side of the tire and read what is there.

then buy the appropriate tire and have mounted to the rim.

there are different load ratings for same rim size tires... also if you do go up to 15" check fender to tire interference.

The trailer manufacturer should be able to tell you what size wheel and tire if the tag is missing. Also a good trailer or tire shop should be able to guide you based off weight capacity.

Just think about this. you can get 13", 14" and 15" tires all with the same load rating

for a 3500# axle you can have load range D or E 13" tires, load range C 14" tires or load range C 15" tires. All appropriate for the loading on a 3500# axle

however your trailer was designed for a specific tire diameter. many times jumping up in size can not be done easily without modifications to the trailer
