what a bummer here in nebraska. in mid summer people got chased off of pawnee lake and a few other lakes here in the salt vally. now. i'm already to go out today and darn, my favorite lake, branched oak has this algea. grrrrrrr. good thing the missouri river is only a hour away as it is about the last place to go boating and even that don't look good. i hear they'r gonna be dropping the river level real low on the river soon too. man what bummer end to the season.

i don't want to winterize yet, :( jim

Now that they have descovered that this grean crap is dangerous if you injest a gallon of it, (Which is imposabl), they have made lives miserable. We have had this algea here for years and years before they found out it was toxic, and knowone has ever gotten sick and died, we have even drank the water and ate the fish with no ill effects. It just makes a mess, amd stinks if it gets thick and washes up on the bank.

Hey guys, I sail (very glamarous this!) on an old gravel pit and we're always being warned about "toxic blue green algae." So much so that all members have to sign a disclaimer before they can sail but the lake isn't CLOSED!!!Don't know how folk would justify that

Wifey grew up in Niagara Falls, NY. Section called Love Canal. Toxic waste dumped years before by Hooker Chemical. Only negative side effect was hooking up with me. Next we will see MSDS sheets on bilge water.

well ldsa i did miss speak just a bit. it was closed to me that day cause i wanted to go out on the pwc. boating, saling, and fishing were still permitted, however the fish were not to be eaten. the park system just closes the lake to any water activities that have water contact. this stuff has been bad around here this summer. it makes people very sick with flu like symtoms from what i hear. also killed someones dog i think. so not something to take lightly. (don't think i'd take NYminute real toxic waste lightly either, yikes)i like to go out on the ski but not in that kinda water that will make me sick. i would have gone boating but it's mostly winterized now. still got the ski operational though and am hopein to get at least one more time at the lake. they have lifted the warning now and is all clear, yeah, hope it's not to late to go, it's gonna be gettin frosty around here real soon,,,,,, jim

with the comming of cold weather that relates to colder water and less sunlight and shallow water the algae will probably be leaving you, it takes warm water to make it grow. put back a lot of water depth just those 2 items will really make it disapear, doesnt happen overbught but it will go
