Well, even though the Spanish have left here for the winter, it's nice to see a fellow board member catch them. That is a nice Spanish. Congratulations.

Re: Tommorow's lunch special: Spanish Mackral

Thankyou Gents.

I am A little proud of that one cause its the biggest one I've ever caught/seen.

I know that they come bigger and there have been lots of bigger ones caught....But not by me.

I can't say much about the background except that it pays the bills and scares away the cockroaches.

As Far as cooking it....I oiled a cookie sheet and laid the fish out (skin down and it just barely fit). poured on a cup or so of lemon juice. Sprinkled it with salt, pepper and garlic salt.
Then I sliced up 2 lemons and 2 white onions and laid them all over the top. I sprinkled on a little more salt/pepper/garlic. I preheated the oven on broil and set the rack down on the 3rd level. I put the fish in and cracked the door open about 3" and broiled it for 15 min. (ya gota watch it or it can burn quick, fast and in a hurry.).

I served it with fettuccini and asparagus.

It was awsome, in fact it was so good that the kids, after already haveing ate dinner, Ate fish till they grew fins. All that was left over was a 4" section of the tail. That was claimed by the cat witch has been rubbing on my leg ever since. Happy cat = no mice = happy wife = more fishing.

And so goes the circle of life.

As far as the canser stick....I can't start the Zyban untill I'm done with the other perscriptions.

I've only got a couple of more days for the fun to begin even though the medicen I was taken did'nt realy work....so I'm still deaf in one ear.

I'll just turn that ear to the father-in-law and the other to the football game.

Mackralwood.

Good luck on the zyban. My wife was on it and she was able to stop after 16 years or so. It's going to be rough, but if you can fight the mackrel, you can fight the urges!

BTW, Nice Fish!

Derwood, you'll gret there with not smoking mate.
I've off them for 1 year 3 months 5 days now and don't miss them a bit.
A recent arrival bought me a whole box of Havanna cigars. Yes, you know the Cuban ones. There's I think 50 of them fat old suckers in there and I can't have one of them. Last time I saw these friends I was smoking and he promised me a few Cuban cigars. I didn't think it'd ever happen.
Well I'm everybodys favourite now when all the celebrations come around. A friend recently had 10 for the birth of a daughter. Talk about chuffed, he was mute with excitement.
You'll get there sport, just remember it's not, "I'm giving up". Its,"I don't smoke".
I enjoyed hearing of the fish eating too.
Ross

Derwood, were all pulling for you on the smoking thing. It is a tough beast, but it feels so good when you can say you beat it. Good luck.

BTW, all the really big Spanish I have ever caught have been on a king mackeral rig, cigar minnow and duster with a few ounces of weight to get it down a little. The big ones sseem to lay just under the school. Give it a try and good luck.
