Im trying to figure out what the system is, I dont have a manual. It has the 2 hoses attached to the toilet but the toilet is (or actually was, i threw it out) a porta potty. I want to put in one of the nicer jabsco manual units, looks like it hooks right up to the inlet and outlet hose. Outlet hose seems to split under the sink and i assume one goes either to pumpout opening or holding tank and one under engine thru hull out for releasing when out on ocean (3 nm). That one goes thru macerator i think. Ive never used a system like this and dont know whether water is taken in from sea or from water tank? Dont see any seacocks only on new toilet itself. One of my worries is water getting in and flooding the boat if i dont hook this up or use it correctly. How would i figure out if theres a holding tank does anyone have this model boat and know for sure if it comes with one? If someone can shed light on any of this id appreciate it...

First Welcome to Iboats. Go to SeaRay site and download parts manual, it may help identify some of the parts and if you need parts for something else you will have the book. If it will work the link below will take you there.

appreciate those links, from the manual ive figured out that theres a pump out opening in the hull, a macerator, and bottom of hull waste release, but there is also mention of a holding tank which i cant locate, if anyone knows whether they really come with one that would be great (and its the 220 DA 5.7 i think that is the same as the sundancer)

Glad you found some good info, I wondered about what you had since there was no 240. A friend of mine has a 2004 220 with a portapoty type head and it is equipped with a pump out and no holding tank. It may be possible you had the same setup.

I have a 1995 Sundancer 250 (basically a 240 with a bowsprit) with the same type toilet setup. It is basically a port-a-potty with a pump-out connection, so the "holding tank" is the lower part of the toilet. Not a big capacity, but enough for a few days. Here in Puget Sound, the overboard cannot be used, and is wired shut at the thru-hull. The pump out works ok. I usually flush out with water a few times after pumping out (put water in through the pump-out fitting, pump out, repeat) and it seems to work ok. Keep a deoderizer in the head

I would stick with the porta potty type of system. My dad had a toilet on his cruiser and it was good for potty but that was about it. It had the macerator and the holding take. The problem with these things is the waste tube is typically corrugated and small diameter. If one of your buddies goes in there and does a mega dump it probably will plug it up and believe me, you do not want to deal with unplugging it. They make large porta potty systems with large holding tanks. That in my opinion is the way to go. No chance of it getting plugged up.
