My starter went out and I just received my new one yesterday, the only problem is I poped the old one off and can't get the new one on and I can't get the old one back on either, is there a trick to getting them to fit into place?

No, It bolts right up...Did you get an aftermarket starter or a new one from a Nissan or Tohatsu dealer?

Was there some interference or something?

Don't know but the new one I got was too long, hooked the old one back up and now somehow it is working, I'm confused but happy for right now, sent the new one back for a refund

How (what method did you use) did you diagnose the electric starter was bad in the first place?

jumper cables, grounding the negative and hooking the positive to the starter

So maybe you had a stuck or worn brush. If they are worn very short, you can get new brushes.
