Its a 1990 3.0 omc engine with an electronic distributor. Im looking to set the timing on it and according to the manual sticky from this site i am getting a bit confused. Here is what it says After i jumper the white wires together the next step is:

3. Bypass the shift interrupt switch by disconnecting
wires at shift interrupt switch. Temporarily join the
engine harness wires together

To bypass the shift interrupt wouldnt you just disconnect it Or are you actually activating it by connecting the two wires together? And what engine wiring harness wires is it refering to?

Re: timing issue

You are trying to adjust an OMC to Mercruiser specs. Don't. Two completely different systems.

Re: timing issue

Ok i was under the impression that they were mostly interchangable on alot of things. Would anyone know where i can get an online instruction on how to time a 3.0 omc motor?

Re: timing issue

Ive been trying to go through the manual that is for omc engines. It came as a pdf file. What a pain it is trying to find where the timing procedure section is for a 3.0 est engine.
