WHen my tilt trim is in the water it makes a horrible grinding/ binding noise. I think it could be that is has a bad seal and it is letting in water but I am not sure. but it works fine some times then it will make that noise in or after it has been out of the water for a few days it will work ok until you get it in the water

second it also will not keep the engine trimmed up on the center cylender when giving it gas the engine falls on the two side posts.

finally I noticed that the side posts move back and forth a hair in mine and are firmly in place on other tilt and trim is that a problem??

I checked the fluid level when the pump whas all the way down and it worked fine. did I let air in the system and that is why it is not working correctly?? WHat is that grinding noise it makes the trim move very slowly and uses alot of power.

I have a merc 135 95 black max

check the little balls in the end of the cylinder rods and make sure they are turning and not scuffing the motor housing. Also is the hinge getting grease? I'm not sure the center cyliinder is capable of supporting the motor under power.

the trim fluid level must be checked with the engine in the up position

th balls move very well. are they supposed to be greased? the bottom thing is greased for the main cylender.

how full is the fluid supposed to be when in the up postion do I fill it all the way. is there some type of overflow?? if i fill the resevour when it is up where will all the extra fluid go when it is down??

u got a leak some where if it will not hold in the up position
it could be seals or could be a check valve
