tilt trim help me

I have a 1988 3.0L Mercruiser I/O. I am fairly new to boats, especially working on them. I have had a problem with my tilt indicator instrument not working. I checked the wires and found a loose one, and now it works some what. I read through the manual how to adjust the trim indicator sender and the trim limit switch. I was able to adjust the indicator switch to have the needle point to the lower part of the green section on the dial. But when I go to adjust the limit switch nothing happens. The manual says to turn the switch counter clockwise until the edge of the end cap is 6 1/2" away from the center of the aft pivot bolt. There is no movement of the tilt when I do this. I have even taken the 2 screws holding the limit switch on all the way out to adjust further and nothing.

Does the limit switch slow the speed of the tilt down when it is near bottom? If so, my stern drive moves at one speed up or down all the way. Please help.

Re: tilt trim help me

But when I go to adjust the limit switch nothing happens.

It sounds like it's either Broken, or Disconnected from it's circuit.......

Other than that it sounds Normal......

should the stern move up and down a bit when i turn the limit switch? And should I replace just the switch(round part) or what?
