I have roughly a 97 25hp tiller steer long shaft yamaha. the problem that i am having is the throttle cable has too much slack in it. when i turn the handle to open the throttle wide open i am only getting to about half throttle before it maxes out. i know there is too much slack in the cable. i just dont know how to adjust it or if it can be adjusted. would i have to take it somewhere. any help would be appreciated

Re: tiller throttle adjustment

I think that engine does have locknuts for adjusting the throttle and shift cables. If you do not have the service manual then take it to a good dealer the adjustments are not that complicated once you have done it a couple of times. Good luck!!!
