i bought my 1979 crestliner, 100hp johnson with wiring problems. can someone help anwer two questions please?
1. Where is the switched hot lead coming off ignition?
2. SHould all three leads coming off the 3 pin connector on the back of the control body be hot with ignition off? I thought one of these was the signal wire for the trim gauge?

thanks a million

you get better response if you start by describing the problem you're trying to fix, if the tilt doesn't work then,,,say that.

Re: THrottle / Tilt wiring 1979 johnson

the boat i bought had a wire harness that was cut apart. there are three wires in a connector which come off the trim/throttle, one of is brown/blk and goes to trim gauge.

with ignition off, all three wires show 12 volts.
1. is this a normal condition?
2. Where are the other two leads suppossed to go?
3. WHere should I find the lead that is hot when ignition is on? I presume that is where my gauge power show draw from

thank you

Re: THrottle / Tilt wiring 1979 johnson

there was a posting to my question where someone had a schematic from a manual and they recomended a reair manual from a publisher that includes boat wiring. unfortunately I was unable to retain that knowledge before the posting was removed, can anyone recomend a manual for a 1979 crestliner crusader that has wiring diagrams?
thanks
