Here i will be when the Packers win it all. At each corner of the fish house is a hole with bells attached to let us know when a fish is on. A four chair table allows us to play cards and our Tv service is supplied by a generator and is heated by propane.

Now where can you go when its 20 below,Fish, play cards and watch your favorite game at the same time?

The first pic. is of the Homestead I often mention on my posts and also to show you what a real winter is all about in the North Woods.

Oh JR/495v,since the ice is normally 25 to 30 inches thick, the places we normally fish in the summer I'm either crossing it on a snowmobile or sight seeing across the lake in a Four wheel drive Jimmy.

Merry Christmas everyone and please be safe....

I don't care how thick somebody tells me the ice is. I'm always nervous when I'm walking on it. I guess you get used to it. Looks like you have a nice setup. Enjoy the bowl.

Gonfishn....from what I can tell, the only thing you're missin' is the outdoor hot tub. That's where I was when it was snowing in New England and the Patriots won the Div Championship, It was a grand spot to watch the Super Bowl from too, but it wasn't snowing that day. Like your set-up though....looks just like ours in northern New Hampshire.

Note to Jack Shellac.....I'm afraid of thin ice too...whenever I'm in Mobile Alabama, that is....You can reasonably bet that those of us who pull our vehicles onto the ice know what we're doing.

Alot of Resorts up North pull these ice houses on on the Lake and rent them out at 70 Dollars a day. Roads are plowed out to the House and it makes a nice day with the family or friends. Ice that thick can take Heavy Snow Plows which are used to make Roads so folks can drive across the Lakes to visit their friends on the other side. Usually in Feb. everything comes off in plenty of time before the lakes start to wake up.

It does feel kinda Strange standing on top of areas you normally would be fishing. Its to bad I can do this only once a year. Someday though this is where i will retire....

That's cool Gonfishn :)
Sounds and looks like Sweden almost.
Did you see the movie Grumpy Old Men (1993) ?
Kind of funny. Lots of fish house in the movie too.

Merry Christmas to all!

Sweet setup Gonefishn......I have fishing envy! That sounds like my kind of setup; fishings, poker, football and plenty of cold-ones. I'll tell you, my wife complains about me spending time in the garage, if I had a set-up like that, she would probably never see me. Have a good time!

I'm heading up North Thursday (my Birthday) to watch whoever plays in the SuperBowl. Really don't care as long as I catch some fish and win some hands. Anyone out there Spear Fish in winter. Must be a resident of Minn. to do so. Looks like I will be belling it while my friends will be spearing. Ice is 20 plus thick and looks to be around -10 below on the average.

Its a no no on the Walleye but plenty of heavy Northern,Huge Perch and Rockies. Yes we stay there pretty much on the 24. Out of the three days I'm there 3/4 of it is in the house. Water is so clear that at ten feet you still see the bottom and all that moves.
