Well craigslist couldn't do it close to home, but a local online ad in North Dakota did, and next Sunday I'm off to Minot to bring home a 1978 18" SS with an 85 HP Evinrude. It is even HA's favorite colors yellow and white.;);)

Awesome Glen!! Are you sure that "shed" you built will have enough room to hold another boat? LOL

Ez, can you tell by the color on the O/B roughly what year it is, the P/O said 1978, but I don't think that is right. Here is one photo of the boat.

That is a super nice ride Glen! Is that for you, or, was it your brother that was looking for one??

A google image search tells me it's a '79. Dodging a HUGE bullet there with the TnT!! '78 and older are the old style units that cost an arm an a leg.

Looks like a nice boat! I wish I had TNT when my lower unit got stuck in the mud. I'm considering trading up to an 85 horse myself. Good luck.

Thanks Ez, What is the difference in the TNT between the two years, and the huge bullet thing scares me!!!

Thanks Concept, I can't imagine not having TNT in the shallow lakes we run in around here.

Re: The pestilance has infected us again

Glen, if that motor has TnT then you have nothing to worry about. The newer style units are all internal to the mounting bracket (same as your old one). The older style ones were mounted outside of the bracket and I clearly don't see that kind of unit on that motor. If it doesn't have TnT and is indeed a '79, a newer style unit can be added to it from ebay for $200-250. If it's a 78 or older.....those units are very difficult to find and go for $400+ even in unknown working condition. I tried for years to upgrade my '73 with no success. My '81 has TnT and it works great.

Thanks again Ez. This one does have TNT, although one of the steel lines is cracked the P/O tells me.

Jas, this one is for me, found one for my brother last year, the motor went on his so I found him a real good deal on an Evinrude 120 1985 that he has mounted on it.

OK, so you have two of the same exact boat, one OB and one IO. Just to cover your bases.

Oh, noooooowwwwww I know why you built the Starcraft Hanger!

Looking forward to seeing what else goes in there;):D
