Since my fishn pursuits are on hold for a while I'm going to attempt to trace the tree as far as possible. Hopefully some of you are into this and can help me get started as with links or programs that you may be using.

Mom,who is 81 years young is my last link to gather the history I need for this adventure.

Most of our Ancestors were Lumber Jacks or trappers back then(Minnesota,Canada) She actually gave me a name connect who was with The American Fur Company in the mid 1860's.

Thanks ahead of time.

Not sure if you know it or not, but the Morman church has vast resources dedicated to geneaology. I believe they have the largest library in the world dedicated to family history in Salt Lake. I think you can even access it over the internet.

They do a lot of work in recording and categorizing public records from all over the world to facilitate this. I am not a morman, but I believe family history is key part of their religion. Any Mormans out there please correct me..

try www.familysearch.org

I have done a bit of this and can tell you that the most important thing for you to do is to spend a day or two with your Grandmother...NOW. The ladies are the keepers of the culture & one eighty year old woman will know more about the relationships in your family than all the men in it put together.

That said, there are any number of software products out there to help you make sense of the info you get. Most states...and indeed counties, have databases accessible on the Internet...search, browse and have fun. Many family bibles have a section in the front where this sort of info was entered. Just remember that the best place to start is with your Grandmother.
