Today, while chopping down a tree with my trusty chainsaw, I became strangely aware that I was enjoying the job too much.

Then I realised... it was the smell of 2-stroke fumes... the responsiveness of the throttle... Yikes, I'm fantasizing about my boat engine!

My wife always said I was an adict, but now I'm worried - Any other signs I should be looking out for?

There are other signs,62.
Do you go outside for no (or trumped-up) reason? And then walk over to the boat and lean on it?
Do you grab the kid or family dog and place them in the boat while you are leaning there?
Do you cut across wakes in your sleep?
On your way to work, when you pass a truck comming the oposite direction, do you brace for the wake?

:p
That's me to a tee 12Footer.

I'm glad you guys understand what's happening.

How about...

Taking an "accidental" detour past the boat ramp each time you're out in the car (wife is concerned about this).

Losing your train of thought, mid sentence when someone's boat drives past (wife finds this very annoying).

House is full of boating mags, fishing mags, marine charts, fishing gear, life jackets, wet suits... (wife hates that).

Garage is full of boat parts, water skis, fishing gear, beer fridge and friends drinking beer while talking about boats... (wife REALLY hates that)

Yep...
:D

How about calling out the boats name in your sleep and your wife thinks you're having an affair.
Ross

after 18yrs together, my wife doesn't laugh at me when she sees me sitting in the boat instead of mowing the lawn.
i know it bothers her that i always choose to go fishing on my birthday, and getting home too late to eat cake though. ;) she even bought me a fishing reel last yr :D and i have the little lifejacket hanging near the boat- bought it 2yrs ago for my 2&1/2yr old little girl. i wipe the dust off often.

Aahhh, the wives. I call mine, "Earth Angel".

She's witnessed motor noises in the garage at midnight.
Not from the actual burning of hydrocarbons.
:D

Hey, machismo!

Wipper,

I now find "EA" looking over my shoulder and "tempering" some of my replies.

First decent snow of the season yesterday...fired up the snowblower, and after an hour of clearing my walks and driveway while the two stroke music entertained me and the Castrol R fumes caused visions of dirt bikes and outboards to dance through my head, I refilled the tank and went next door and started on my neigbor's driveway...
