Are the Ted Williams 7.5 hp outboards any good?

There's several on craiglist near me for under $150.

I just need a little outboard to propel my 10 ft inflatable for the time being.

They're attractive to me because they're minimalist, lightweight, and have an integrated gas tank...perfect for a little inflatable where space is an issue.

Also, I find them in both these designs...with a complete cover, and with exposed fins? Not sure what the differences are.

I can't find much info about them.

If the engine craps out, they also seem to be a likely candidate for a lawn mower engine conversion?

the motors are solid runners, Capsitive discharge ignition models ( Solid State) are problematic but I prefer them.

People usually give these away, both engine in your pic's are no more than a 50$ outboard unless the owner can show you the receipt for the 100$ worth of parts your going to need....then it could be a 150$ outboard

They appealed to me for the same reasons. It's something like 35 lbs, and there's no other 7.5hp that light. get the model numbers, they'll start with 217.XXXXXXX, then go here;

and plug it in, click on model search. You can see a bunch of exploded views , look at the motor above the crank. It will show either points or a solid state ignition. The points models are easier to fix up and make run, and parts are not usually hard to get. They're kind of loud, and they vibrate at low rpm, but I really like my durned motor.
