HI
I'm new to this forum.

Anyone know SEARS TED WILLIAMS 7.5 HP. OUTBOARD MOTOR - 21758881 .
The motor is in mint condition. The carb was removed and disassembled. I got the motor intact with the carb removed and apart. I put it back together. I don't know if everything is there or not. Anyway when i pump the bulb it fills the bowl and the cylinder with gas. the gas goes straight through and doesn't pump tight. Once i get the gas clear the motor runs till the bowl is empty the fuel isn't pumping normally the engine stops till I pump it up then it floods REAL BADD again.
Anyone know what the problem is?
I didnt take this thing apart so I'm guessing if I could see an exploided view It would make a difference. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Thanks
ZITON

Re: TED WILLIAMS 7.5 HP

The motor is a 73 built by Eska.It uses a Tecumseh air cooled power head with a water cooled exhaust leg.
You need a service manual. Sometime you can find them at the library that cover many brands.
Most likely the float valve is not closing properly.Causing the flooding. Most of those motors have a diaphram fuel pump in the carb that pumps the gas.In my opinion these motors are marginal performers
I wouldn't put too much money into it.

Re: TED WILLIAMS 7.5 HP

It is refered to as a Fuel pump element and described as a rubber boot and it fits in a hole in the carb mounting flange. It should be mounted at a 45 degree angle. From my readings here it is a source of trouble on these motors.

Re: TED WILLIAMS 7.5 HP

How does the Fuel pump element work. I bought a repair manual for this motor but it was copied in less than the best graphic quality. Where can I get this part?
Also I saw in the exploided view a lead shot what does that do?
Thank you
Don

Can't help you much on the lead shot.It may be a check valve for the built in pump.
You might try certified parts corp for carb parts/kits.
You also may find help at a small engine shop.

Re: TED WILLIAMS 7.5 HP

looks like this thread is fairly old..... but i'll throw this out there anyway. i had one of these motors. that fuel pump element was the biggest problem. the motor is actually a techumce (how ever you spell it) and i found the parts at at lawnmower parts dealer. take the carburator id number with you.

but, these elements are so thin that a small cough or back-fire within the crankcase with blow a hole in them.

here's your best bet.... cover the pump element hole between the carb and intake with the gasket (i just flipped it over) or something and rig up a gas tank (it has to sit above the carb and line come out the bottom or low side) so the motor is gravity fed instead of the pump element.
mine ran like a champ after i made it gravity flow.
