Sylvan/Starcraft

I can't remember but I think some one on here said that Sylvans are a Starcraft, is this true? I found an 18' and it really looks like Starcraft. But the hull looks like it could be an offshore V series. I has a 100hp Evenrude boat motor and trailer are 1984.

Yup, same exact hull as a Starcraft. The Offshore was just the first edition of the open bow rig that became the SuperSport I think. You won't find an Offshore newer than around '72-'73.

Here's a little history of the Schrock family that clarifies how he started Starcraft, and years later ran things over at Smokercraft/Sylvan.

Pretty interesting stuff, the northern Indiana region has tons of boat and RV manufacturers due to the fact that Starcraft started there over 100 years ago.

Thanks HA, that is some interesting reading. The only reason I was thinking offshore was of the extra chin strips.

Dare I say the "G" word? I think Offshore's were also made in the glassers through 93.

I own an 89 Bluewater 221 Offshore. They made that model from 86-93 from what I can tell.

What was the first year that they made the v5 Hull. my 22 holiday looks like one but who knows. It works well in the open water.

Yeah I like the look also I almost got a glasser but I don't like messing with glass afraid I won't fix it right and down she goes... LOL

1978. Check out the brochures. There is a write-up in 1978 about ti being "new". The V-5's have and extra pair of strakes in the front.

It's a great big water fishing rig, very similar to Huron Sr's Seaswirl w/ hardtop.

Even Jason wouldn't cut that glasser up and scrap it

Oh, don't worry... I'm still stuffing pool noodles and soap bottles underneath the glass just so I can FEEL like I'm one of the REAL metal boys!
