Sooo long story short. I got this motor on a trade and now regretting it. I was pretty excited about trading a 97 Yamaha for this motor and was shocked the guy wanted to trade but I went with it. I should have done more investigation upon meeting the guy but the excitement got the best of me and I realize it’s my fault and now trying to do the right thing. Supposedly it’s a 2010 25hp 4 stroke. Once I got home I searched for serial number and no luck. Cowl has been debadged, the little sticker on back of motor stating hp and motor specs/oil, only the horse power part is scratched off. Only sticker on it is “2010 epa” motor looks brand new other than being a little grimy in some spots. It is a manual start but has a place to put starter kit. Torqe stamped on motor is 22ftlbs, says it’s a 1liter engine. My question is, without a model number on mount bracket, is there any other place it may be so I can give to my sheriffs office to make sure it’s not reported stolen because that’s what I’m worried about. Or maybe he just scammed me out of a 25 and gave me a 20 or 18hp and didn’t want me to find out? Totally my fault with no title.
