Sunken Texas A&M racing yacht dispute

This is turning out to be quite the fiasco. The university claims the design was flawed and the hull was too thin...Coast Guard claims that the repairs after running aground were performed inadequately.

I wonder if both problems contributed to the disaster. On a side note one of the faculty saved the lives of two students aboard only to perish himself, similar to George Clooney's heroics in Perfect Storm.
