Sun? damaged sun pad?

Wife and I are pretty upset...the upholstery in our boat was in really good shape. I put a tarp over the boat while we where away over the weekend b/c I don't have a good cover yet and when I pulled the tarp off, where it contacted the rear sun pad it turned my white vinyl brown. Cleaner had little to no effect. I can post pics later but this is really bothering me and I can't seem to find much info. Anyone know what happened or if I can clean/ repair this?

Spray tough stains with a mixture of 5 tbsp. of ammonia per cup of water. Then let the spray penetrate the stain for 15 minutes. Heck, I'd let a towel soaked in this solution soak on top of the stain after spraying the stain.

This is the first slightly more aggressive but safe step to try.

Thanks, I willl try this first. From what i've read about vinyl getting sun damaged it does sound more like a stain. It still feels smooth and I read that it will feel rough if dried out.
