I've heard lots of people talk about a post storm and after storm bite. I've always fished the day before a storm and never noticed the fish bit any better. What's your guys take on this? I hate going out into the ocean as a storm approachs or even after the storm. I don't think fishing in snot is very fun.

misuse@bloodydecks.com, for what it's worth, down here in New Zealand I find the pre storm goes very quiet, staying quiet throughout the storm. The best time is the aftermath, immediately after that is, for numerous reasons.
I fish the sea and the barametric pressure change puts the fish off till it returns to normal hence the rapid rise in fish feeding.
The water that flows from the storm washes much needed food down the rivers and into the sea, hence the species waiting for the outflow by river mouths.
And finally the discolouration in the sea after the big wash hits. This permits the fish to feed longer into the bright sunlit days when they would normally return to deeper waters. Therefore we catch more at that time.
Best clue here in NZ is to watch the cattle. Before a storm they rest or chew the cud, during the storm they sit down and don't eat much. After the storm they all stand up and eat voraciously. With their heads all facing into the wind. This way you'll also know when the wind changes after the storm.
Ross

Day of and day after a big storm i find hard to catch fish in the ocean. I belive mainly because when fishing lures water clearty so poor that fish can not see lures. I know I can not see more than about 10 feet after a big storm.

Ross that cattle trick is awsome! I have cows all out infront of my house. I'm going to watch them and see what happens. I've never noticed that before. Jason
