Looking for a place to store my fishing poles so my kids won't smash them. Thinking of placing them on hooks on the gunwale. Has anyone done this?

Amazingly, I only found one pic from my rod rack installation and that was after it was completed.

But here it is.

Done that a couple times and worked well, except if your kids are active... My grandkids in there younger days could not sit still and the fishing rods received there attention no matter where I put them!!

Depends on what rods you're storing.

That setup works OK for holding #20-30 trolling rods but beats the heck out of the reels if stored without reel cases.

The length and small diameter of spinners make it even tougher on rods in those holders

Since you have a center console, I would use triple tube mounts on each side of the consoles. Easy to get to and securely holds the rods in place even in the roughest of conditions

Here is my boat Layout. Maybe I could do the triple tube mounts in back along the splash well.

That is a tough one...had one like it and rod storage was a pita !! You might consider cutting away some of the side covering so the rods set in a bit, other wise they are gonna stick out and be in the way. Along the back might work...except going down the highway??
