Our plant volume has doubled in the last 2 years, while our workforce has been cut by 1/3.
Sounds like the planted NEEDED a new manager - I mean, if he could get twice the production from 2/3's the employees, someone wasn't pulling their load!
And just think, if they cut another 1/3 how much more production they could get!!!! Roscoe, I think you need to work harder and be more efficient! Maybe not take so many breaks!
We are continually getting new managers.
We have one plant manager, and 3 department managers.
Only 1 of them has been in place for more than 3 years, over the 9 years I have been there.
Its the Kraft system, take the position, make a few changes, transfer to a new position before you are held accountable for the long term effects of your work. 8)
About half of our production increases have come through automation and outsourcing. For example, we no longer process and cook our meat toppings (outsourced).
The problem is that all but 2 automated processes are not performing up to the specified levels. And management insists on running the equipment @125%+ of its capacity. That just doesn't work- for long, then it breaks down. So the burden to make up the difference falls on the laborer.
No one under the age of 23 stays on the job for more than 2 months.
In fact, we currently have no one under the age of 25.
Very few under the age of 28 at our facility.
Temporary service employees rarely stay more than 2 weeks.
8.6% of our workers were on medical leave at any given time in 2006.
Few workers 50 and over are able to do the job at the expected performance level.
And then you have the just plain lazy and the inept, which account for about 10% of my co-workers.
Did I mention that I am approaching 50?
I think its time to move on.
Until I do, please eat less.
