Steering wheel shaking

I have a 2002 stingray with a 4.3 inboard, we took the boat to the lake, put it in the water , I started out into the lake and the steering wheel was give me the death shake. What could cause this ?

Were you under power, going fast or just idiling along?

When you say inboard, you really mean I/O right? If so, I would suggest the power steering system has an issue. Is the fluid level correct? Does the PS pump turn smoothly when the engine is running?

I had to idle along, when I tried to go faster the steering wheel would shake bad.

The PS pump does turn smoothly if I go in Idle speed, but once I throttle down the steering wheel shakes bad.

Is it firing on all cylinders? If it's not, the entire boat may shake hard under low power.

Yes , the motor start up good,idles good there is no miss firing.

Hi. Does it do this in neutral with revs or just in gear ? A bent prop could cause this for sure. Many other drivetrain related things too.
