Hey guys,
On my 200 Johnson, it steers real sharp to the right, but it looks like it only cuts half as hard to the left. It has dual cables, and I just really noticed it. I have not really noticed the problem on the water. Can someone give me some insight on how to adjust????

Thanks,
Trey

Both cable ends should be the same length at the engine end, if you have the dual cable racks matched proplerly on the steering gearbox. At that point, there is not much adjustment left to them. Check your steering link arm. It may be too short for your application. If you center the steering wheel, by counting it's turns right lock-to-left lock, the engine should be centered on the hull. If yours is not, the link arm may be the wrong one.

Thanks,
I think the arm is too short. From left-lock to center it is 1 full turn. From right-lock to center it is 1-3/4 turn. The control arm is 11". How do I know whick size I should get???

Here is the simple theory. Disconnect the engine link arm at the engine. Center the steering wheel between the right and left locks. At this point the steering system is centered. At the engine end, hold the engine centered, and measure the distance from the disconnected link arm to the engine steering arm. You should see if it is too short (or too long.) You really don't need to disconnect the arm to do this, but you need visualze things on the engine end. It won't make much distance difference, depending on which engine steering arm hole you mount the link arm in. An 11" arm is a pretty standard length.

Thanks,
I looked on evinrude's site, and the arm on there was 13-3/4 for the engine. I got an adjustable arm and adjusted it to 13", and the motor steered much better.
