Steering Alignment on 2011 Suntracker Party Barge 21 Pontoon Boat

I purchased a new 2011 Suntracker Party Barge 21 pontoon boat and from day one the steering was not in alignment with the boat when traveling straight. The wheel sits at the 9:30 to 10:00 position. Can anyone offer advice as how to realign the steering wheel so it sits closer to the 12:00 position when going straight.

I think you'll find a nut at the helm...look under the center of the steering wheel.

Yes its often a issue on a lot of boats, their is a woodruff key on the shaft that the steering wheel is on that often has 2 positions. That can give you some adjustment and if that isn't close enough then you have to open the helm up and disconnect the steering cable from the steering gear box and slowly pull it out as the wheel turns till the cable runs out. Their is notch's on the cable and by turning the wheel after the cable is out allows you to adjust it till you get it where you want it. That is best done out on the water to get it centered. It may take several trys.

There wasn't a woodruff key on my Sun Tracker it was like a spindle with splines just pulled it off(PB blaster, light taps with rubber mallet) and was able to reposition it close to right on

Same on my Bass Buggy - tools= 2 knees & 2 hammers

LOL, yeah and hope to hell I don't break something. At our last home (a little aged) washing truck in driveway, pulled hose for more slack, water stopped, no kinks, walk around back, water shooting out hole, hose bib laying on ground with hose attched.
