Bummer it has been beautiful around here and I have a few days off work. Wanted to take the boat out tomorrow so I went out to check out everything on the boat, haven't been out for two or three months. Tried to start with the muffs on and only the starter is spinning not engaging the engine. Can it just be the battery needs charging? Or is the starter bad/bad Bendix spring? 1994 75 HP Mariner. Any help is appreciated.

Re: starting problem

Those symptoms are usually caused by a poor connection of a battery cable or the cables themselves, rlc.

Take those cables loose, carefully clean the terminals and reattach.

Good luck, and let us know what happens. :)
