Re: starter price

buzzking
I'd figure about $200-$250 for the starter and another $100.00 for labor(On the high side). Tops would be $300-$350 installed.

Edit: If your asking how much YOU can buy one for, check the link below:

web page

Re: starter price

All sources are high for new outboard starters. I would have a local starter/alternator shop rebuild what you have. That should cost less than a $100. I use Baker Alternator and have always received good service at a fair price. For new, I would try Seiler Marine on the web.

Re: starter price

By the way. It takes about 1-2 minutes to remove and reinstall a starter from that engine. I would figure a mechanic will charge about 2 hours time for the 2 minute job $90.00 and then add a new starter $180-250+markup, or a rebuild at $90.00+markup.

My guess for the total:

New $350.00

Rebuilt $225.00

It would cost me $75-90 for the rebuild. Boat mechanics have to make a living, but not off of me. I guess off of you.

If the boat runs now, don't look back.
