I am looking at a 16' SS and had the owner send me a pisture of the capacity plate and what appeared to be a HIN on the back right side of the transom. The plate looks new and has the hp listed as 90 and the 800 lbs and 1500 lbs total. what i thought was the HIN was written sideways as C41204M8CH65. Has anyone seen a late number like this. I am at a loss. any help would be appreciated. The boat is 4 hours away so running to see it is not easy.

Does it have a title? If yes it probably doesn’t matter. But a hin like that could be correct. If no paperwork then only proceed if your state makes it easy or will accept a Vermont boat registration

No there is no title available. The owner did agree to provide a notarized bill of sale if I buy it. Thanks for your reply.

In many states getting a boat title or registration is nearly impossible. Best to contact your state and see their no title requirements or if they will accept a Vermont registration as Vermont registration is pretty easy to get with a bill of sale

Matt, thanks for your reply. The pa fish and boat commission will accept a bill of sale if it contains the required info.
