Hey All, I'm taking the family to St. Petersburg, FLA for 5 days, on the second week of July. We're staying right on the beach. Can ya'll recomend any fishing charter boats/captains? I'd like to surprise my best bud with a deep sea fishing trip. What's biting that time of year? Are there any other sites or activities nearby for family fun? Anybody have any pics of that beach area to share? I'm dying to smell that warm saltwater breeze again.......ahhhh....I can almost taste it.

TRY HUBBARD'S MARINA THEY HAVE LOTS OF VARIOUS TRIPS AND BIG MODERN BOATS. THEY ARE IN MADERIA BEACH AT JOHNS PASS JUST UP FROM ST PETE BEACH. GOOD PLACES TO EAT ARE SEA CRITTERS IN PASS A GRILL, AND THE SLOPPY PELICAN ON BLIND PASS ST PETE BEACH. HAVE FUN.... I LOVE GOING DOWN THERE

Thanks, Rick. I started that route, but you might be surprised to see how many outfits there are in that area. I wanted to narrow my search down a little bit by getting some feedback from anybody here, that might have used the charter services in that area.

Thanks, cggcpa1. I'll check 'em out.

Ugh, July can not get here fast enough.

Rick, Thanks for the gracious offer. :) But I'll pass on it for now. I'll wait and see what my other sources can tell me for the boats in that area.

Wooohoooo! Vacationing in St. Petersburg was awesome!!!! :) We got our room bumped up to the penthouse at no extra charge. :D We were right on the beach. Great sunny weather the whole time. Ft. DeSoto beach was awesome! I've never seen such beautiful clean white sand and clear water in my life!!! (I grew up on the dirty shores of southeast Texas.) If you go there, get there early in the morning, because that water heats up fairly quick. We saw live swimming sharks, porpuises, starfish, sand dollars, and lots of other exotic fish and sea life that we've never seen before. Our guide took us out to a channel for some nice Mackerel fights. We were hoping to hook a shark or two, but no luck. Those mackerel love to run and fought very well. The longest we caught was around 23inches. I'm in love with grouper now. I ate as much seafood as possible and I was suprised at how tastey the Grouper was no matter how it was cooked. :) There were a lot of tan people down there! We got to visit Ybor city and one of the cigar shops had a torcedor working when we came through and he allowed my buddy and I to roll a cigar and get pictures of us doing it!!! Too coool!!! Amazing and unforgetable trip. :) I've got to find me a job and house in Florida now!!!! :D
