In my ss16 the 2 stringers that support the floor are sitting higher than the rib ends by up to 1/4” but it is different at each one. I don’t know if this is common or if it’s even an issue.

Do you all just leave it as is, or
1) shim each rib end so the floor sits flat? If so, what do you use for a shim?
2) drill the rivets and move the supports down the ribs so they are lower and everything is flat?

Seen hundreds if 16ft SS rebuilds, none ever had stringers higher then the rib ends.

Factory original stringers?

Got pix?

Looks factory to me? Here is a picture of a level across the stringers about where the front seats are. 250CF584-2CF0-4355-A853-7322C13DDC31.jpeg384213A1-536F-4B47-8984-8E6FD457C64E.jpeg

Yeah it's nothing to compensate for, nothing on a boat is square or level and will drive OCD types to madness. If anything the slope will move water from the deck.

That’s what I was going to say. Allows water to go to the bilge if the boat is sitting level, which is likely rare but i guess it does happen. Mine sits low at the stern.

Good deal, that’s the answer I was hoping to get because fixing it would be time consuming. I am used to making measurements to 1/32” so leaving it as is goes against what feels right, but I’m sure there’s more important things to focus on

I would replace those old blind rivets holding the deck supports to the ribs. Seeing the dark outline means they're loose and have been for some time.

Yep, totally normal and nothing to worry about. Replace the blinds in those factory stringers as mentioned by Watermann and carry on. You'll probably notice the weight of the decking will close your gap as the stringers have a little flex to them, and everything will get pulled tight when you secure the decking to those rib ends.
