Speakers in same compartment as gas tank?

Any issues mounting speakers in the same compartment as the gas tank? I have a 1992 Nitro 2000DC and was thinking of putting some speakers below the seats. That compartment shares air space with the gas tank. The batteries are also in that compartment. Any risk of explosion putting the speakers there?

Never seen a speaker spark, but you can enclose the speakers

Speakers likely won't spark, but there's electrical power going through them... Putting them with the gas fumes may not be a good idea.

So I contacted the manufacturer of the speakers, Wet Sounds. They said under no circumstance put them in the same compartment as the gas tank. Guess I got my answer.... will have to look for alternative mounting spots.

Your fuel tank is permanent, doesn't leak and vented? It should not be an issue.

Yes, won't be a problem, until it DOES leak.

Designs need to consider the worst possible case.

A lot of Speakers are mounted where the Magnets are in the Bilge/Engine Compartment. Not likely an Issue, if there are enough Gas fumes in there to ignite, It probably would have blown up before the Radio/Stereo was cranked up.

Engineers can design the safest Systems in the World, but some Hamfisted Owner will go out of his/her way to Disable, or Override, just because it causes them a few Seconds of Inconvenience

That's exactly true. People blow themselves up all the time. In this case, at the very least the OP asked the question before he got hamfisted.
