Hey gang,

I had my coil arching today out of the blue from the tower to both +ve and -ve terminals in the coil. Checked coil tower for cracks, none. Checked cables, starboard side has obvious burn signs on the boots and the wire immediately after the boot (spark side) is deteriorated (cuts, cracks but still attached)

Time for new set but it is Sat. No dealers will be open tomorrow and don't want to stay grounded. I have a 305 in my garage with original set of wires. Can I use them even for only few days?

My wires are a little thicker and have 4Q06 on them. 305 is 4Q95 I believe. The 305 is TB ignition also

BTW, I have already changed spark plugs today anyway

I don't see why they wouldn't work if long enough.

Yeah, check the length, marine engines often need longer wires because of the routing around the manifolds. You might be able to get a set of marine wires from your local NAPA, might be open on Sun.

No problems at all. And when you go to buy a new set, don't go to a Merc shop. Take all the leads (especially the coil-> dissy lead) with you at a normal automotive shop and have them make up a set using their best quality silicon 8mm leads... Better than genuine, and probably about 1/4 the price...
