What spark plug should a 1964 9.5hp Johnson outboard use? It has 2 Champions RJ12C in it. Are they the correct ones to use? Also, where can I buy a carburetor kit for this engine.

Champion J4C or J4J. Here's the link:

The kit they sell here is OK, call first though and make sure it has a float in it. Otherwise get one from your local dealer. The floats are still cork and they don't last forever.

pull both plugs from engine. put the wire back on the plug . hold the body of the plug, the hex part, onto a good ground. have someone pull the starter rope and you should see the spark. you wont get shocked while holding the plug.

But to really test you need to see it jump 3/8" from the lead to ground. Even a week spark will jump 30 or 40 thou across the plug .

A spark tester would be the best way.
