i had left my 12 foot aluminum tied up to the dock and called it a night.the next morning, or i should say afternoon i came back out and discovered gas all over the bottom of the boat.the motor was tilted all the way back because i was in shallow water and didin,t want the prop bashing around.i could find no definitive source of the fuel leak however i assume it came out of the carb.this has never happened before so i can only assume that the hot sunny day had filled the portable plastic tank with so much pressure that the fuel was being pushed through the carb and onto my floor. does this seem like a plausible explanation or is there something i,m missing here?

sounds pretty reasonable to me

when you leave the boat, disconnect the fuel line, no need to run the carb dry tho, unless you arent coming back for a few weeks

Bet you had the tank vent closed - that would cause the pressure build-up.
