well i found out today that you can in fact blow the ride plate off in the water. my 1995 donzi with a 90hp merc has not been running right. i bought it as a boat that had been sitting for 3 years. so i bought it and took it home and cleaned the carbs, reglued the magnets back on the flywheel and the whole 9 yards. put it in the water only to find out the switchbox is more then likely bad and has a backfire. pulled it out of the water and BOTH sides of the front of the ride plate are blown out. wooo hooo. time for a new switch box and some 2x4's and a hammer
