Hello,
I am trying to repair a broken skeg on 96 volvo penta sx. Can anyone recomend the replacement skeg? I have found one by TH-marrine but they seem a bit to short. The top part is baout 10 inches while the one on my boat is between 14 and 15 inches.

Thank you,
Peter

Most repair shops cut out a piece from a template to weld back on. Either 3/16 or 1/8 thick.

before you rush into it, there was a thread here recently where the heat from the weld had distorted the metal and the seal was allowing water into the drive. Worth checking who would be responsible if getting it done by a shop.

Look into a Skeg guard. It will repair your skeg in minutes without any welding and will be a perfect fit (each is designed for a specific outboard or I/O) You can find them on eBay at a discount. Just search eBay for "skeg guard"

I was trying to find a direct replacement so a friend of mine can weld it on for me. It appears that I have to fabricate something.

Thank you for your input,
Peter
