Last saterday, oh what a beautifull day it was, myself and daughter (12yrs), after getting the boat out of the shop the day befor went to the lake to try her out....ran like a top. Have read many horror stories here about boat ramp tactics, so I ancored
her just past the 5mph boies(SP)where we had a frunt row seat to the ramp.
Well.. there was three of them, the boat was a 18ft v hull 125hp johnson outboard. It looked as if they had problems from the start
as they never could do better than 5 or 10 mph, and decided to pull her out of the water. He pulled up to the ramp and let the two chums out, and tossed a line to one on the ramp and put her in reverse and backed away....away like 100 yards away....and pulled the line right out of the guy holding it...lol, then for some reason he put it in forward (he must have thought it was in nutral...hehe, and sucked the line right up in his prop. After he freed the prop and his buddy had jackknifed his trailer pulling it back to the ramp....he finally got it in at an angle (trailer is the kind you cant see)
almost a 45deg angle in the water....OK the capt decided to run her up the trailer (just like butter) wrong.....miss judged the angle of the trailer and smakeroow!!! Well now he is sumwhat po'd, and tells his bud to pull the trailer out and try to straighten it up. Meanwhile he has the 4 boat ramp all to himself, with at least 4 boats waiting to dock and 4 or 5 waitting to launch... the presures on He makes it finally, and he tells his bud to get out of the truck and he takes over, slams it in gear, spins the tires....my daughter looks at me and laughs
and said Dad he did'nt raise his motor? I'm
sorry, but I had to let it out He slamed on the brakes after one of the guys yelled at him to stop. They ran to the motor and lifted it up (even though it was hydrl. lift)
Capt got out of the truck and just shook his head Strapped her down and took off.
After all that I must say, me and my daughter
never have retreived the boat with so much prection and timming
