Should I Scrap Or Restore?

I am purchasing a 1966 18' Starcraft Aluminum V-hull, with an inboard/ outboard 110 4-cylinder. The problems are as follows:
1. Seats need recovering rebuilt (sat uncovered outside for 3 years)
2. Floor seems solid on first look
3. Engine turns over had weak battery when checked it out
4. Lower unit needs replaced (comes with replacement lower unit)
5. Power-trim, pump works, lines leak, nothing moves
6.Trailer dual-axle tilt-trailer needs tires
7. Hull needs cleaned only saw one small dent on side

Trying to decide if its worth keeping and restoring?
I got this for $250.00

I don't know much about I/O's but it would certainly seem worth restoring to me. Aluminum hulls are fairly easy to restore compared to fiberglass. No stringers to content with.

That lower unit is what will burn ya . I don't know what it would be worth restored , but I've learned from experience . You can figure what you think it will take to do the job as far as cost and then double it in most cases . And you can figure how long it will take to do it and double that too . I'm my own worst enemy on things though , once I get started on it , I can't stand letting anything go . Anything short of right , drives me crazy . I'm almost through with a project right now and have probably got a thousand bucks "over the value" invested in it .

There you go , might be a fun project . I enjoy tinkering with em myself . Heck it might sound crazy , but I enjoy fixing one up about as much as I do running the lakes . Keeps me occupied and out of trouble .

yes its worth restoring, if you have the time, and the ability to do most the work yourself, all boats need work, and I mean ALL boats. some just need more work then others, I have had 2 starcraft boats, and were very pleased with them. the have been in business since the very early 1900's, if my memory serves me right, I think 1909 or 1912, by the same family, there was a time when the family didnt own starcraft, and the quaility of the boats was not as good, but the 1966 models was not them, I'd be happy with that project for 250.00, the boat completly restored will only be worth about 2500 to 4000, give or take, and if you can find a buyer, but if you do decide to restore it, LOOK OUT, just because you wont want to get rid of her:)

I would try selling it first. Although I hate inboard outboards, I also hate to see nice boats at the scrap yard, waiting to be melted down.

If you have not scrapped the boat I am interested in the boat as a project.
