Should I buy?

Am thinking about buying a boat and since I don't have a lot of boating experience thought I would get some expert opinions. It's a 1988 Bayliner 2455 Ciera Sunbridge, fresh water cooled with a rebuilt engine. I know the couple who own the boat and he is a fanatic about repairs. The price doesn't bother me, have researched and it appears appropriate for this boat. Since I've been thinking of buying this I've had several people tell me they wouldn't buy a Bayliner because of the hulls. ?? I mostly boat in the Chesapeake Bay. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

catmox....good for you that your thinking of becoming a boater. Bayliners have had their share of controversial issues and I'm sure this board is no different than the rest when you open it up and ask others for their opinions you will get both good and bad. I'm going to suggest you go to another board as well, it's called "Bayliner Owners Club" and either post your question there or just browse. We all have reasons for choosing the boats we have, style, size, features, cost, resale value, etc. You have to pick the one that's right for you and go and enjoy it......good luck! Spend an extra couple hundred and have a survey done. Like doing an inspection on a home you are about to purchase, a survey can give you some peace of mind that you did enough due dilligence to make a good reasoned decision.

THANK YOU THANK YOU, BOATIN BOB, you have said a mouth full and it came out just right. I have a 1982 citation that will still take a licking and people said it would not last, ha it's still in good shape now I have a 2001 bayliner capri and love it. anything will last if you treat it right.<br />Do your own homework, buy what you like and enjoy yourself, your the only one you have to impress.

Thanks for the info. Have owned my 1st boat for a year (86 Galaxy 226 Sport Express) and had a survey done on it. My ins. co. required it due to age but really gave me peace of mind. Since I've been looking at this Bayliner, I've had several people (all non Bayliner owners) tell me it's a mistake. Thought I'd get some more expert opinions and go from there. Will schedule my survey! Thanks again.
