Hey boaters...

I'm from Fort Lauderdale, goin up north to Vero Beach/Sebastian area for the weekend.

We got us a room at the Driftwood on Vero Beach, looks pretty nice.
www.thedriftwood.com

We got a 16footer, and don't fish so we'd be primarily in the intracoastal areas, no open seas. My question is, between Vero Beach and Sebastian, which is nicer for pleasure-boating? A friend told me stay away from Vero, nothin to see there, Sebastian's the place to go, more wildlife.

Any opinions?

Thanx

Definately Sebastian. On calmer days you can go out under the bridge and cruise along the beach on the ocean side as well. My boat is smaller than yours and I've gone out for miles fishing. Just watch the afternoon storms. Check out Long Point Campground for wildlife. You can get there by boat and the birds almost walk right up to you. Dolphins, racoons and lots of sight seeing. Enjoy. I can send you a couple of cool pictures of this place and the wildlife if you like. I camp at Long Point County campground on occasion.

You got go to Capt Hirams to eat dinner one night. The Sebastian River is also very nice. If you have kids or not the spoil islands make a nice place to picnic. Sebastian Inlet can be very dangerous. It is narrow and the tidal current rivals some of the passes in the Keys.

There is a shoal just on the outside of the inlet on the south side that can set up nice waves. I remember the first time I went the inlet and was not paying a lot of attention because it was so flat and then before we knew it we were in this wave area.
